AR Heaters combine the clean, modern appearance of an electric sauna heater with the authentic experience of wood-fired heat.

Designed for efficiency, comfort and practicality, our heaters offer a unique solution that keeps the fire-feeding system and chimney connections out of sight.

Innovative exterior-fed design

All the beauty of a modern sauna heater, without the traditional wood stove appearance.

Unlike conventional wood-burning sauna stoves, AR Heaters feature an exterior-fed firebox. The fire-feeding chamber extends through the sauna wall, so you load wood from outside the sauna or from an adjoining changing room.

The result is a clean, minimalist heater that resembles a modern electric heater while delivering the authentic warmth of a wood-burning stove.

Key benefits

  • Modern, electric-style appearance
  • Concealed fire-feeding chamber
  • No visible firebox door inside the sauna
  • Flexible installation options
  • Clean, uncluttered sauna interior

Cleaner sauna environment

Keep the firewood, ashes and mess outside.

Traditional wood-burning heaters require firewood to be carried into the sauna, often bringing dirt, bark, wood chips and ash along with it.

With AR Heaters, all firewood loading takes place outside the sauna room.

Key benefits

  • No carrying firewood through the sauna
  • Less dirt, bark and wood debris inside
  • Easier firebox access and maintenance
  • Cleaner floors and benches
  • A more enjoyable sauna experience

External combustion air supply

Designed to keep combustion air separate from the sauna interior.

A traditional wood-burning stove uses oxygen to sustain its fire. Depending on its design, this air may be drawn directly from the sauna room.

AR Heaters are designed to supply combustion air from outside the sauna room rather than from the air inside. This helps reduce the amount of heated sauna air consumed by the fire.

Note: proper ventilation is still essential for fresh air and comfortable breathing inside the sauna.

Key benefits

  • Combustion air supplied from outside the sauna room
  • Reduced consumption of heated interior air
  • Improved separation between the combustion system and the sauna
  • Supports a more controlled sauna heating experience

High stone capacity and gentle heat

More stones. More heat storage. A softer sauna experience.

Both AR Heater models hold a large load of stones, designed to absorb, store and gradually release heat.

Unlike heaters with large exposed metal surfaces, AR Heaters surround the metal heating structure with sauna stones. The stones play a greater role in carrying heat into the sauna, creating a softer, more balanced heat.

Key benefits

  • High stone capacity for better heat storage
  • Longer heat retention after the fire dies down
  • Gentler radiant heat than exposed hot metal
  • Less direct exposure to metal surfaces
  • Plenty of steam when water is poured over properly heated stones

Installation concepts

Option A

Exterior wood feeding

The fire-feeding chamber extends through an exterior sauna wall, so firewood is loaded directly from outside.

Option B

Changing room wood feeding

The fire-feeding chamber extends through the wall between the sauna and the changing room, so the stove is run from the changing room.

Chimney routing options

  • Through the roof
  • Through an exterior wall
  • Through an adjoining room and then outside, where the approved installation system allows it

All installations must comply with the heater's approved clearances, chimney requirements and applicable building and fire codes.

Installation guide

Installing an outside feeder model

Through-wall installation, step by step.

How the outside feeder works

On the outside feeder models, the stove sits inside the sauna and is loaded with wood from outside. The feeder neck passes through the sauna wall, and the loading door is on the outside wall. The flue pipe also passes through the wall, above the feeder, inside a welded protective cover.

The feeder neck is designed for a standard 2×4 wall. It is too short for a 2×6 wall.

ImportantMinimum clearances

Feeder neck and front plates: keep at least 2" (50 mm) of clearance between the feeder neck or door plates and any wood or other combustible material.

Fire protection board

A fireproof protection board must be installed on the wall around the installation. The board must be at least 2" (50 mm) larger than the cover plate on all sides.

For the 19 3/8" × 22 3/8" (492 × 568 mm) cover plate, that means a board of at least about 23 1/2" × 26 1/2" (597 × 673 mm). The cover plate can also be fastened to this board.

With the fire protection board in place, the stove can sit directly against the wall.

Installation steps

  1. 01
    Prepare the wall

Cut the opening for the feeder neck in the 2×4 wall: 18" (457 mm) wide by 26" (660 mm) high, with the bottom of the cut-out 1" to 1.5" (25–38 mm) below the bottom edge of the ash tray. Cut away the siding around the opening. The cover plate must sit flat on the wood, not on the siding.

  2. 02
    Install the fire protection board

Fix it to the wall, centred on the opening and extending at least 2" (50 mm) beyond the cover plate on all sides.

  3. 03
    Position the stove

Inside the sauna, slide the feeder neck through the wall opening until the stove sits against the wall.

  4. 04
    Fit the cover plates

From the outside, place the cover plates over the feeder neck and screw them on. Check the 2" (50 mm) minimum clearance to wood all around the neck and plates.

  5. 05
    Connect the flue pipe

Run the 6" (152 mm) flue pipe through the welded 9" (229 mm) cover in the wall and connect it to the stove. Keep at least 2" (50 mm) of clearance between the 9" cover and any wood.

  6. 06
    Final check

Confirm all clearances, make sure the cover plates sit flat and tight, and make sure no wood or combustible material touches the stove, neck, plates or pipe cover.

Please note

  • Chimney pipe is purchased separately.
